China news site worth more than New York Times

Shares of People.cn, soared 74% in their debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — Propaganda doesn’t pay? Actually it’s pretty lucrative … at least if you’re a media outlet backed by the Chinese government .

People.cn, the online arm of People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party that is highly censored, went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SHCOMP) on Friday. Shares surged 74% and the company is now worth 9.6 billion yuan, or $1.5 billion.

That’s much higher than the New York Times (NYT). The publisher, widely regarded as one of the best newspapers in the U.S., is worth just $932 million.

People.cn also has a higher market value over than U.S. publishing companies McClatchy (MNI), E.W. Scripps (SSP), Journal Communications (JRN), Daily Journal (DJCO), A. H. Belo (AHC), Media General (MEG) and Lee Enterprises (LEE).

The president of People.cn , Ma Li, is proud of his company’s entrance in the stock market, calling it “excellent,” in a report published on, of course, People.cn.

The money raised in the stock market will be used to improve the Chinese website’s mobile presence, according to the company’s prospectus. To top of page

Chances are that pool comes with a cartridge feitlr. They feitlr out to about 20 microns. Good enough to catch algae but not anything smaller. like bacteria. You still need chems. Specifically, chemicals to adjust pH and TA as well as a method for sanitizing the pool. You need to keep that water balanced or it will actually cost you more money in chlorine expenditure. Chlorine doesn’t work very well if the water isn’t in balance. You’ll use more to do the same level of sanitizing. The chemicals needed for water balance are a lot cheaper than chlorine is so it just makes economic sense to keep that water balanced. Also, the vinyl liner in that pool can degrade if you don’t keep a proper balance. Also, since this will be new pool water, you’ll need to add an initial dose of stabilizer to the pool. Stabilizer helps chlorine stay in the pool and not get zapped out by the sun’s ultra violet rays. You get more bang for your chlorine buck.Typically you’ll use chlorine pucks and chlorine shock as a sanitizer. You need both types of chlorine. The pucks are a low, slow dose of chlorine with stabilizer built in. They help keep a chlorine presence in the pool to nail most but not all of the nasty bacteria and virus’s and still a low enough dose to not affect you, the swimmer. Chlorine shock is a high dose, fast dissipating chlorine. You usually use it once a week or if your pool starts to cloud over. No swimming for a number of hours afterward. It doesn’t know the difference between you and a bacterium and goes on a rampage in your pool, killing off what the pucks didn’t.
